Batu Caves is a limestone outcrop located just outside Kuala Lumpur and is an iconic and popular tourist attraction in Selangor. It is a site of a Hindu temple and shrine. Batu Caves attracts thousands of worshippers and tourists, especially during the annual Hindu festival, Thaipusam. It has three main caves featuring temples and Hindu shrines. Its main attraction is the large statue of the Hindu God at the entrance, besides a steep 272 climb up its steps to finally view the stunning skyline of the city centre.

Dress code to Batu Caves - No short skirt or short pants (hot pants)

Fireflies - Get back to nature with a night away from Kuala Lumpur to a small coastal village called Kuala Selangor. A boat ride along the river of Kuala Selangor where one can spot the famous fireflies during the night. The fireflies are all found on the mangrove tree species called berembang. It is said that this is one of the biggest fireflies’ colonies in the world. These are also known 'Lightning Bugs' and they shine brightly at night to attract a suitable partner. Often their flashing becomes synchronized and the overall effect is just like the twinkling lights of a Christmas tree.

Silver Leaf Monkey - The Silvered Leaf monkeys are adorable and friendly animals that live on the Melawati Hills. These monkeys live on shoots, young leaves and wild fruits. They tend to live in clusters of 6 to 10 and their infants are orange in color, often turn silver after 3 months. You will be provided with snacks such as green leaves and fruits to feed to the Monkeys. Prepare for a close encounter with nature at its best as the Monkeys may climb all over you to reach for the food!

Melawati Hill - The view from on top of this hill is panoramic. On a clear day, visitors can see the Malacca Straits. The sunset view at this hill is rated among the nicest in the country. A little fishing settlement can be viewed from the hill as well. The sight of fishing boats rounding up their fishing trips and laying the nets down are a welcome sight after the hustle of the cities

The locals built a fortress on top of the Melawati Hill in the 19th century to defend Selangor from enemy attacks at the river mouth and provide a vantage point to monitor ships entering and leaving the Straits of Malacca. The fortress was captured by the mighty Dutch armies and was used as their base to launch attacks on Selangor to capture the luxurious tin trade. The fortress was renamed Fortress Altingsburg after the name of the Dutch Governor General at that time, Governor General Alting. A couple of leftovers cannon and foundation stones are hugely popular with visitors who are fascinated with its historical values. Some of the foundation stones are believed to be used for executions for locals who dared defied the Dutch armies.

Melawati Hill also has a lighthouse and several old colonial houses built during the British era. Some of the lesser known attractions on the hill include the Poisoned Well that was filled with poisonous mixture of latex and juice from bamboo shoots and reputed to be used to execute traitors by lowering them into the well drench in poison and the Royal Mausoleum that is the final resting place for the first three Sultans of Selangor.
